  • ROME in 24 HOURS - OUR FAVOURITE CITY! (Travel in 2022, BEST things to do in Rome)

Our absolutely favourite city is Rome so the excitement of exploring it (again) is written all over our faces! We love the history of Rome, the incredible buildings and sculptures and of course the amazing food. We have been to Rome previously when we explored Italy and the rest of Europe back in 2017 so we thought it would be fun to run around all of the best things to do in Rome and check out the differences of the city comparing 2017 vs 2022! In this video we run around to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Circus Maximus and try Gelato in our favourite Piazza! Stay tuned for next week when we try the best Rome foods and continue to travel Italy! Watch the full video here

  • May 2022 | -$2,343.00

So why record our expenses? We wrestled with the idea of spending all our money on experiences versus knuckling down at work in an attempt to set ourselves up for the future. Ultimately, we decided that houses can burn down, investments can be lost and money can be wasted but memories can never be taken from you. We wanted to solidify those memories by creating videos. But also wanted to show people a realistic view of what a full-time travel lifestyle would cost. When I went looking for something similar they we're few and far between so I wanted to do something for the next person who comes looking. And so, a terrible and laborious google sheet was born. It's since been updated many times and is much easier to manage. All of the data here is from that sheet. Where did the money come from? When we tell people that we are travelling full-time, they tend to have the same few comments. We must have wealthy parents who are paying for everything, or that we have come into inheritance or a lottery win or something else crazy. While we both acknowledge we are very privileged to be able to earn an income (and both have jobs unaffected by the pandemic) - so all the money we have saved up has been solely from working at jobs that we held without any tertiary education. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed putting it together! What you came here for: Breakdown of what's below: Expenses YouTube Analytics Summary Expense Report Expense by category This is a quick reference category breakdown of our expenses. This month looks a whole lot better than last. But it wasn't. We saved some money by using the points we accrued with our Qantas credit card in order to stay in a couple of places that were FAR too fancy for us. They also had very bad Point/Value ratio which I knew nothing about when I booked them! See accommodation breakdown below for details. The money we "Saved" from using points we decided to put toward a luxury cruise in Egypt. We truly had not discovered what it meant to travel long term yet and regret spending so much even if it was a great experience! Accommodations Expenses This one really hurts. I had no idea about the value of points. We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice stay when we first got to India so we could acclimatise to the hustle and bustle slowly but we made a mistake here. Having done a lot more research into the use of points I can see that spending them on accommodation like this was a really bad move and has limited us in the future. Nevertheless an expensive lesson was learned. Transport Expenses Things to note here, firstly, the number is different to the 'Expenses by Category' Section. that's because in that section I use the Master sheet which includes small transports like Ubers, Grabs and Taxis which I thought wouldn't add value in this section! Also, yes, the price for the overnight sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor is crazy, we know. But it was the only overnight train offered and we really wanted to film it so we reluctantly paid the money. It waaaaassss an okay journey. You can watch it here Fixed Costs Insurance is expensive but worth it. Safety wing is our insurer of choice, they seemed to offer the most comprehensive cover especially when lots of countries needed specific types of insurance during the pandemic, they were great! Adobe is the software we used to edit our YouTube videos Epidemic sound is where we get all our music from, you can get a free trial with this link*: https://share.epidemicsound.com/i1nhpc Income This month was great! still going well from our Thailand video we started to go a bit crazy with our Vietnam video's. Particularly our train video, Sapa Video and our Ha long Bay cruise. Those three kept us going through both India and Egypt where we saw an immediate and significant drop across the board (More on that below) YouTube Analytics This month was another great lift of views and income overall and we loved it. in the middle of the month and toward the end our India and Egypt videos started to publish and we saw a big drop-off across views and income. Our theory on this (Other than our videos not being good enough- Judge here) is that YouTube was showing our videos to people that they thought would like them. Unfortunately those were Vietnamese people who liked watching videos about Vietnam. What this meant is that YouTube was using lots of Impressions (Showing a viewer our thumbnail) on an audience who were no longer interested in our videos as we had left their country. This meant a very big tank in the CTR or 'Click through rate' which is one of the main metrics YouTube uses to determine the quality of a video and how many more people to show it too. Summary Final balance at the end of May Expenses: -$2,977.00 Income: +$634.00 Change - $2,343 .00 We are incredible thankful to be able to have any sort of income on the road! Even though we we're miss-guided this month and only remained under budget through an irresponsible use of points it feels good to have the daily expenses under $100 a day for the first time! • A MISSION IN ALEXANDRIA EGYPT (Citadel of Qaitbay & Awesome Roman Ruins in Egypt?!)

Alexandria Egypt blew our minds! 🤯 After finishing our Nile River cruise we made our way from Aswan to #Alexandria and go to spend an amazing day exploring Egypt's Port City. We decided to challenge ourselves and see if we could walk all the way from our hotel to the Citadel of Qaitbay! Google said it should only take two hours but we got happily distracted by the Bibliotheca and some Roman Ruins (still can't believe this is in #Egypt)

  • LUXOR TO ASWAN LUXURY NILE CRUISE TOUR (Full Ship Tour, Pros and Cons & The Unfinished Obelisk)

On day 3 of our river Nile cruise we are invited onto the captains bridge before we run around for a Full Ship Tour of the Concerto. We are parked in Aswan for the final two days of the cruise so we also had an opportunity to go and check out the famous unfinished obelisk too! There were definitely pros and cons for the cruise! CONS: - All drinks were not included and needed to be paid for, that includes your drinking water which seemed unusual for a five star cruise. - last 2 days spent docked in Aswan where we didn't get the dreamy changing Nile views we were after. PROS: - We got to see a part of Egypt we wouldn't have seen. - The rooms were fantastic - The food was good - The value for money was excellent! Final review - I would definitely encourage you to take a luxury cruise on the Nile but if you are searching for the cheapest possible, 3 nights is probably enough! Watch the full video here

  • LUXOR TO ASWAN on a LUXURY NILE CRUISE (First day onboard)

Moving on from our awesome time in Luxor we board a 5 star Luxury* cruise ship to take us down to Aswan over 4 nights! (Edfu temple - Temple of Horus) * It was sold as luxury but drinking water was not included and we found out later that it is only 2 nights of cruising and two nights sitting at port in Aswan, Pros and cons in next video's description😆 Watch the full video here

  • INSIDE THE LUXOR TEMPLE, EGYPT (Alone at Luxor Temple & The Amazing Valley of the Kings)

Only having 2 full days in Luxor, we wanted to pack as much in as we could! So we set out a 48 hour itinerary that would get us to most of the major sites without wearing us down! On day one we explore Luxor temple and the avenue of Sphinxes before we are treated to an amazing sunset on the Nile via a private felucca cruise! The following day we cross the Nile from east to west to visit the VALLEY OF THE KINGS where we get to go INSIDE 3 ancient Egyptian tombs! We also check out the only free thing to do in Luxor, the Colossi of Memnon! We really hope you like this video because we loved making it! Watch the full video here

  • WATANIA first class SLEEPING TRAIN in Egypt (Cairo to Luxor overnight train full tour)

We tried the WATANIA first class SLEEPING TRAIN in Egypt This is something we had been excited to try and turned out to be one of the easiest options to get farther south in Egypt! We didn't want to take any risks so we went to the station a day early to book in person with Ernst to make sure we got everything correct. It was $80 USD per person which is definitely on the expensive side for Egypt and you can get to Luxor cheaper but we wanted to experience the train which has become some-what famous for tourists! Enjoy this video giving a full tour of the Train so you know whether it's worth the investment for you! Watch the full video here #egypttrain #wataniatrain #wataniasleepingtrain

  • NO GUIDE AT THE EGYPTIAN PYRAMIDS (How to go alone)

Finally, a childhood dream achieved! We had read that it is much easier to see the pyramids with a guide (and you get hassled less), but having spent too much money on an upcoming adventure, we elected to save our money and do the Pyramids alone! In this Video we answer the question: 'Do you need a guide to see the Pyramids of Giza?' Leaving early in the morning we arrived to the Giza Plateau before almost anybody else and got to run around the Ancient Egyptian pyramids without anybody (Tourists or Scammers) impeding our views! once we marvelled at the Ancient Pyramids and got up close to the sphinx we headed back out to watch the sunset over the Giza Plateau and cast the Amazing Pyramids in an incredible orange glow. Top 5 sunsets of all time for us! Hope you enjoy watching this one, there's lots more of Ancient Egypt to come! Watch the full video here

  • WRONG CAFE SCAM - EL FISHAWY (Egyptian STREET FOOD In Cairo!)

We got scammed at our very first stop in Khan el-Khalili market while trying to get coffee from the oldest Cafe in Cairo! But things got better from there and we tried some amazing Shawarma (Maybe the best in Cairo) and went on to the very famous Felfela alleyway restaurant! It was the best ever food in Egypt and we also had a digestion break to explore the museum of Ancient Egypt! *Immediately falls in love with Shawarma* Today we explore Cairo, Egypt to track down some of the best rated foods according to Tripadvisor.
