When we tell people that we are travelling full-time, they tend to have the same few comments. We must have wealthy parents who are paying for everything, that we ourselves are somehow wealthy or something else crazy. This isn't true. While we both acknowledge we are massively privileged to even be in this position - all the money we have saved us has been from working and saving.

To be honest we love that Kara and Nate did this so we wanted to do the same.

Finances are something we both find super interesting plus we have the goal to one day be in the positive and it will be cool to be able to look back and see where all our money has gone!

I would say plus or minus a good 15% on all the numbers below. We only started properly keeping track of our expenses after this moth so this was our best guess, we also like to overestimate everything so keep that in mind too!

Breakdown of whats below:

Before we left on this trip we saved up about +600K Qantas FF points between us and of course we wanted to use them to get to our first destination!

Both K Hotel 14 (terribly by the way) and the Maya Airport hotel (amazing!) were required due to current covid restrictions in place. We WAY overspent on the Traveltine, you can watch the video here to see why, but looking back it was an amazing and relaxing start to the trip.

Destination Costs

Notes

Expenses

Singapore

$431.20

Thailand

$888.68

TOTAL

$1,319.88

Destination costs include food, drink, local transport and tours or trips we take. Basically most if not all money we spent whilst in the destination goes here. Being we were in South East Asia these numbers are pretty dang high buuuut this does include multiple COVID tests as well as one fateful trip to the Koh Samui Hospital (along with aftercare).

Insurance

SafetyWing

$123.50

Adobe Premier Pro

$29.00

TOTAL

$152.50

Insurance is expensive but worth it. We are so grateful we were covered after the Koh Samui accident (even though we didn't end up making a claim) and adobe is the software we used to edit our YouTube videos - its great!

Not bad for our first month of travelling. We for sure should have spent less but we were new to this whole thing and still finding our legs so made some bad decisions. Also, COVID tests ruined us!
