  • SOFIA TO ISTANBUL SLEEPER TRAIN (Sofia Express full tour)

Best train ever??? Honestly, International Sleeper trains used to make us excited, before our unfortunate border experience in Serbia. But tonight we are ready to have the entire overnight sleeper train experience redeemed! We are jumping onboard the Sofia Express (Sofya ekspresi) from Sofia Bulgaria to Istanbul Turkey. Along the way we wanted to fully document the entire experience including the costs, border crossing process, amenities, whats included and of course, a full cabin tour of the Sofia sxpress. We were surprised by what we found on-board and the entire experience can speak for itself! Watch full video here: #sofiaexpress #sofiatoistanbul #bulgariatoturkey

  • OUR BULGARIAN NEOLITHIC HUT (unique accommodation in Bulgaria)

NO windows, NO electricity and NO water in this AirBnb from 6,200BC! 🤯 Unique accommodation is such a great way to mix things up when you are on long travel adventures. So when we saw a Neolithic Hut on Air BnB that claimed to be completely accurate to the time period. We had to book it. In this video we make the long drive (Only getting lost a couple of times) from Varna all the way to a town near Sofia called Chavdar. Up the main hill in this city a true hidden gem of Bulgaria sits, a museum/neolithic village and we booked the entire town!... just kidding, but we were alone in the museum after hours because nobody else was staying the night. After some minor smoke inhalation from the marshmallows on the fire, we survived! What a way to finish our travel in Bulgaria! • EXPLORING VARNA, BULGARIA (Is Varna worth it?)

Varna is a really long drive from Sofia, we debated whether or not to make that drive for a few days before ultimately decided we should at leat check out the black sea while we're in Bulgaria! We made the drive and feel confident that we've answered the question of 'Is Varna worth it?' once and for all!..kind of, not really. But we DID check out most of the big sites in Varna including the sea garden, the beach and the amuesment park. I think it will always be fondly remembered as the last major city we visit in Bulgaria! Watch full video here: #varna #varnabulgaria #bulgaria #bulgariavlog

  • This town will BLOW YOUR MIND! (Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria)

We fell in love with this place! The beautiful scenery is something from a disney movie. what a city for our fourth stop on our Bulgaria road trip. Veliko Tarnovo has a fortress called The Tsarevets fortress that sits on top of Tsarevets hill and is a sight to behold. It's made all the better when a gorgeous animal follows you around (Miss you Bulgy) We also got to walk the beautiful streets including the famous General Gurko street before checking out the Assen Monument and finishing with a nice local beer with an INCREDIBLE view of the monument and Yantra river below! • Bulgaria road trip from Plovdiv to Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgarias UFO, Monument of Freedom)

Bulgaria is Amazing! between two cities less than 3 hours apart there are so many things to see. In this video we explore a recently discovered thracian tomb, drive right up to Bulgarias UFO (The Buzludzha Monument) and freeze while at the Monument of freedom, Bulgaria which has a vantage point that can see for miles and miles around! We didn't expect much from a relatively short drive and were SO suprised about how much we could pack into this day! If you're planning on a Bulgaria road trip please do the drive between these two cities! so much to see!! Watch full video here: #bulgariavlog

  • AYLAK - A PLOVDIV STATE OF MIND (Bulgaria's Oldest City!)

Our second stop on this epic road trip was Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria and the entire town has a seemless integration with it's ancient passed. There are Roman ruins (Ancient Stadium of Philipopolis) right in the middle of the pedestrian street (Knyaz Aleksandar I) as well as one of the best preserved roman theatres in the world sitting a few hundred meters away! (Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis) we got to see both while attempting to live a traditional Plovdiv life and embracing 'Aylyak' we really had no idea there would be Roman ruins in Plovdiv! Unfortauntely we were both not feeling well and couldn't stay out in the cityas long as we would have liked so i'm sure we missed a bunch! Watch full video here: #plovdiv #bulgaria #aylak

  • BULGARIA IS UNDERRATED! (Bansko is our FAVOURITE Bulgarian city!)

We started our 6 part #bulgaria road trip in Bansko! Initially we were unsure about the coice because all we could find about Bansko was that ist was a ski town that had a lot of digital nomads living there. But we chose to Visit in October so we knew it wasn't going to be cold enough to Ski or Snowboard in Bansko but tought we might get in some famouse Bansko Hiking in Pirin national park. But it was still really cold! we explored the Bansko old town and climbed (Drove) up the Pirim mountains. We saw Baikushev's pine which is one of the oldest trees in Europe and hiked up to one of the beautiful mountain lakes. Overall we were suprised by how much fun we had and how BEAUTIFUL #Bansko was. Highly recommend a visit here no matter the weather! #bulgariavlog

  • BULGARIAN FOOD IN SOFIA (First time trying Banitsa and Shopska Salad)

First food tour in Bulgaria! We are so excited to try a bunch of different Bulgarian food (and Bulgarian street foods) especially the raved about Shopska salad. We started our DIY food tour in Sofia with a BANG, trying Banitsa at one of the most recommended bakeries in Sofia. It wasn't a suprise they were amazing, what was a suprise is which one we like the best! We then unfortunately had a not so good time at a local favourite cafe before the day really rallied and we had a few traditional bulgarian foods at Izbata tavern! #bulgaria#Sofia#Bulgarianfood

  • October 2022 | -$2,748.86

So why record our expenses? We wrestled with the idea of spending all our money on experiences versus knuckling down at work in an attempt to set ourselves up for the future. Ultimately, we decided that houses can burn down, investments can be lost and money can be wasted but memories can never be taken from you. We wanted to solidify those memories by creating videos. But also wanted to show people a realistic view of what a full-time travel lifestyle would cost. When I went looking for something similar they were few and far between, so I wanted to do something for the next person who comes looking. And so, a terrible and laborious google sheet was born. It's since been updated many times and is much easier to manage. All of the data here is from that sheet. Where did the money come from? When we tell people that we are travelling full-time, they tend to have the same few comments. We must have wealthy parents who are paying for everything, or that we have come into inheritance or a lottery win or something else crazy. While we both acknowledge we are very privileged to be able to earn an income (and both have jobs unaffected by the pandemic) - all the money we have saved up has been solely from working at jobs that we held without any tertiary education. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed putting it together! What you came here for: Breakdown of what's below: Expenses YouTube Analytics Summary Expense Report Expense by category This is a quick reference category breakdown of our expenses. At the beggining of October we had left the affordability of our house sitting job in Cortona but still had a few days left in the expensive land of Italy. This was a big contributor to our accommodation costs through this month. Luckily we knew it was going to be that way so we scooted off to a more affordable destination of Bulgaria. Unluckily, i messed up our accomodation dates for our first few nights so we overspent for 4 days in Sofia. BUT the apartment we stayed in was great and let us catch up on a lot of work. Also, BULGARIA IS INCREDIBLE! we rented a car for a few days and explored accross the country before grabbing an overnight train to Istanbul in Turkey. To be honest I had the ambition to get this months daily average under that beautiful $100 mark and am pretty dissapointed we missed the mark. Accommodations Expenses October was a standard month for accommodation for us. There were a few mistakes that costs us a bit more there was also a couple of expensive nights in unique accommodations which always run us a little more. Other than that, we came into a bit better pricing once we found our rhythm in Bulgaria and have booked ahead mostly the same through November while we are in Turkey (Except one week, whoops) Transport Expenses Things to note: The numbers are different to the 'Expenses by Category' Section. that's because in that section I use the Master sheet which includes small transports like Ubers, Grabs, Taxis and short cheap trains which I thought wouldn't add any value in this section! (I kept the total the same) Renting a car in Bulgaria was one of the best decisions we made! we had expected an expensive car like we had in Romania but were very suprised when it came out to only about $13 a day. Apparently Romania should have been cheaper too we just rented from a smaller city that didn't have as many cars available. Always learning lessons! Fixed Costs Insurance is expensive but worth it. Safety wing is our insurer of choice, they seemed to offer the most comprehensive cover especially when lots of countries needed specific types of insurance during the pandemic, they were great! Adobe is the software we used to edit our YouTube videos Epidemic sound is where we get all our music from, you can get a free trial with this link*: https://share.epidemicsound.com/i1nhpc Income Report Affiliate Income Amazon - No New clicks! Get your Guide - We have been fortunate enough to have a few people use our link to book experiences with Get Your Guides! this has resulted in income howvere as it is less than $50 we can't withdraw it yet. Happy for this one to keep going up slowly until we can claim it! Viator - A great addition to our affiliate income has been a link we made to Viator from our Ha Long Bay cruise video. We are kicking ourselves that we didn't create this link earlier as we are sure we've missed out on some income. We even had someone click on our link and purcahse the same cruise we did which resulted in some commission - we need to wait until they complete the tour before we can withdraw and add it to our income report. But it's a great start! Licensing Agreements No licensing this month, I'm hoping it wasn't a one time thing! YouTube Analytics Woooooo!! We had a great but of luck with the youtube Algorithm in October. As soon as it stopped pushing our Transfagarasan video it wen't straight onto our Serbian food tour has now become our second most watched video and is still getting a good amount of views per day as I write this! (Who knew that the topic of Burek would be so controversial) It did mean that our Italy videos never really got off the mark which we kind of expected after the last couple of Italy videos so we weren't too dissapointed in that. Now our Bulgaria videos have just started releasing and we REALLY like them, they are a slightly different style and we hope they can catch on a bit too. We wanted to take this space and both say a sincere THANK YOU for watching our videos. Your watch time has contributed to our BEST MONTH EVER for Youtibe income! we are so excited looking at these numbers and can't wait to keep delivering good videos for you all! Summary Final balance at the end of September Expenses: -$3,470.49 Income: +$721.63 Change - $2748.86 Thank you so much if you have read this far! and of course, for watching along! • BEST DAY TOUR FROM SOFIA, BULGARIA (Rila Monastery & Boyana Church)

We made it to BULGARIA!! aaaaaand went straight on the best day tour. Tour we booked can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/Traventuria-Tours Both of us have been looking forward to getting to Bulgaria ever since we explored this region of Europe a few months ago! We wanted to get our first impressions of Bulgaria in order quickly so we organised to take part in the best day tour from Sofia. This took us to the beautiful Boyana church then onto the epic Rila Monastery. Where we ate delicious Mekitsi and wandered around incredible sacred ground! It was an entire day so we didn't see much of the Bulgarian capital, but luckily we have pencilled in a big Sofia food tour for tomorrow.
